Au départ squat, puis bail précaire, La Main Gauche est un lieu socio-culturel qui existe depuis plus de trente ans à Marseille, dans les quartiers de la Belle de Mai. À La Main Gauche, il n’y a pas de chef·fes, pas de hiérarchie, les portes sont grandes ouvertes à tout le monde et dans les deux sens. C’est le bordel, mais on s’en fout, tout le monde s’engueule, mais on s’aime fort. Oui, mais voilà, La Main Gauche va fermer.

Screenwriter Philippe (Duchaussoy) imagines a crime committed by his wife Sylvie (Delon) and a mutual friend Pierre (Serre): a dead body is put in a trunk but the hand sticks out. Sylvie and Pierre begin to have an affair and things get very dangerous and the imaginary crime is on its way to becoming prophetic.

Fadma is an active Moroccan woman, a mother who, after the death of her husband, raised her two children alone: Ahmed is her pride and joy, having succeeded in France, and Karim is the eccentric artist who still lives with her.
